Every month, we’ll give you a rundown of the dishes/snacks/drinks the Bitten team have enjoyed and where you can find them to experience for yourselves. We’d love to hear in the comments what the best things you’ve bitten into recently have been..?
Faith – The Oxford Arms, Kirtlington
We dropped into The Oxford Arms in Kirtlington for a roast, and this veggie wellington absolutely hit the spot. It was brie, mushroom and cranberry, and they definitely didn’t skimp on the cheese. We sat in the cosy bar area but bear in mind it is very dog friendly – not a problem for us at all, but it can get a bit hectic!
Chiara – The Rickety Press
Hash brown nuggies at The Rickety Press, part of their new brunch menu (available at all Dodo Pubs on weekends!) these were beautiful. Crunchy on the outside, fluffy on the inside. The definition of moreish!
Nicola – Il Botanico
This Italian thick hot chocolate and pistachio cannoli is just what I needed in my life!
The hot chocolate was so delectable, I went back shortly after for another one. Il Botanico’s homemade cannoli is something you must try. Bellisimo!😍😍
Holly – The Talbot Inn, Eynsham
We can’t go anywhere lately without someone raving about The Talbot Inn and now we can see why. We sat in a very cute window seat for two and ordered a Fish Burger and Ham, Egg and Chips. I failed to spot there were two sizes available, so I ended up with a large portion which was very big but I still demolished it with a little bit of help from my partner. The ham is slow-roasted overnight in maple and demerara glaze, it’s incredibly moist and flavoursome. The chunky chips are the perfect texture and the eggs are a beautiful orange colour and rich in flavour. This is traditional pub food done very well with brilliant and warm service. We can’t wait to return for a roast which also comes highly recommended.
Liz – The Vaults, Oxford
January at the Vaults and Garden. The avocado toast with feta was a delicious and comforting early lunch.
Rob
This month’s wild card entry is from Rob who tried Kaiserschmarrn in Austria last month whilst celebrating his 60th birthday.
He enjoyed a very fine example of the fluffy shredded pancake dessert in Fieberbrunn, Tirol. It is served with apple or plum sauce and is perfect for sharing with friends when it’s freezing outside the ski hut.
