Dessert Diaries with Nicola: Pistachio Cheesecake

Dessert is everything to me, and I’m always looking for my next fave sweet treat, so I thought I would take you along with me as I try more each month, and let you know which ones hit the spot, and which ones don’t.

As you may have noticed, pistachio is all anyone can talk about lately. I thought it would only be right to add to the hype and tell you about a recent amazing pistachio dessert I had.

La Smorfia’s pistachio cheesecake was INCREDIBLE.

I have to start by saying that I am not the biggest cheesecake fan, and it isn’t usually my first choice, but every now and then a cheesecake surprises me and ends up making me the happiest girl.

This was pistachio heaven.

Made with ricotta cheese (which is just the best), I cannot explain how good this was. The way it was layered ensured the perfect balance of flavours. I genuinely could not fault it. It was so smooth and the pistachio flavour really came through without being overpowering. The base was nice and light and let’s be honest, you can not go wrong with a dollop of cream.

This was my first time at La Smorifa and I can’t wait to go back! I felt like having pasta on this occasion and went for the spicy bolognese which was really tasty. Countless people have told me that their pizzas are the best in Oxford so I will definitely be returning soon! Oh, and everyone is so friendly- great service!
