Ready to put your batting skills to the test?

Sixes Social Cricket is located on the 2nd floor in the John Lewis part of Westgate, and despite the fact we got a little lost trying to find it, we made it. We were invited to try out some of their food, drinks, and of course – cricket!
We visited on a Thursday evening, which was a lot quieter than we were expecting it to be but it also meant we pretty much had the whole place to ourselves. It seems like a spot that would have a great and busy vibe over the weekend though.
Let’s start off with cocktails!
I went with a couple of friends and drinks-wise, we ordered: Garden Variety, Eton Mess and Girl Next Door.
The Girl Next Door was so good. I am all about a sweet cocktail that is still well-balanced and not overwhelmingly sweet. This hit the spot- I would order this again.
Garden Variety- super refreshing and the hint of black pepper really elevated the drink.
The Eton Mess came with a bit of a show, (the cream on top was toasted in front of us!) which is always appreciated. The ginger foam worked really well with the drink and helped cut through the sweetness.
Overall, the cocktails were really good!

After we got some drinks, it was time to put our cricket skills (or lack of for some of us…) to the test.
There are various levels and games to choose from so naturally, we started with the easiest as it was our first time.
It takes a little bit of time to get used to it, then it gets better once you get the hang of it. We might’ve appreciated a bit more of a demo from staff, and some batting tips (some of us needed these more than others, ha) but it was fun to work it out as a group.
The balls come at you pretty quick, so it’s definitely a speed game. You can still hear and chat to your group while you’re in the batting cage, so it’s sociable throughout. This would work well for a birthday do, or a work social. I did find it slightly repetitivem, as despite there being different levels and games, they all seemed pretty similar, but it’s still something a bit different and we had fun.

Takes a bit of time to get into the swing of things
Naturally after all that batting, we were hungry! We were feeling pizzas and opted for two Double Pepperoni pacers, Margherita and Howza Hot.

The pizzas were good- no complaints there. The base was thin, crispy, and the ideal consistency. Best part is that the leftovers made for a great snack for the next day!
Overall thoughts
It was a great evening filled with good cocktails, pizza, and a fun activity. It’s always nice to have somewhere to go to do something different in Oxford, and being located in Westgate, it’s the perfect location for after work or a weekend jaunt.
The cocktails were the standout for me, and I’d go back to try a few others for sure.
