With restaurants closed, Chef Sebastian Price saw an opening to bring fine dining and fun into people’s homes; introducing The Raw Pantry virtual cook along.
Sebastian devises all menus in advance, with events take place on a Friday or Saturday night. Delivery in Bicester and the surrounding areas (up to 5 miles) is free, with further afield available at additional cost. It’s easy to get excited about each and every menu…
The menu we sampled featured…
Jalapeño mac & cheese (YUM), butternut squash fondant, parsley oil, and other exciting but impossible-seeming chef-y tricks! Oh and HUGE portions…we had leftovers for lunch the next day.
Locally sourced ingredients are delivered to you the morning of the cook-along, in clearly labelled eco-friendly packaging. I was pleased to see some trickier parts had been pre-prepared for me to heat up and plate; all I had to do in preparation was download Zoom and open the wine bottle.
Sebastian is very patient and happy to repeat instructions a few (hundred) times, and the food came out unbelievably delicious. You cook each course live with him and devour the food in your own time; where Sebastian turns his camera and mic off and lets you enjoy until you’re ready to proceed.
Sebastian delivers on his two promises made upon booking: you’ll have fun and the food will be delicious. He’s also happy to answer any and all questions, have a laugh, and lie to you about your plating skills.
If you like food, fun and cooking then I say DO THIS!
Cook-along’s cost £45-£60 per head. With my boyfriend claiming the food was “better than some Michelin starred food”, that’s pretty good value.
For those of you less keen on the cooking part, Sebastian is launching an experience just for you – “Supper Club – I cook you host”. Described as “a 4-course meal delivered, cooked and cleared by Sebastian in the comfort of your own home”, it almost sounds too good to be true!
Thank you Sebastian for bringing something so exciting to a little town!
