We first reviewed The Edge back in 2020 when they ran a humble but very reputable street food van in Eynsham.
Fast forward four years and they have exchanged the van for two establishments in Witney and have become a cornerstone of Witney’s culinary scene, entrusted by the previous owners of Fat Lil’s to take over their popular restaurant on Corn Street, they’ve seamlessly melded their distinctive “Edge” flair with the beloved community atmosphere.
Run by Tom and Phoebe, the couple remain as committed as when they started to serving delicious coffee and food in a relaxed environment.
It’s great to see their local list of suppliers prominently at the top of the menu, coffee from Routes, meat from Denhams and bread from Marks Cotswold Bakery to name just a few. They also got nominated in the Top 10 cafes in Oxford last year.
We ordered the Frank which might be becoming the most photographed dish on Instagram. The Frank is a big stack of deliciousness, hash browns, sausage patty, fried egg in a toasted English muffin with yummy caramelised onion, and Edge BBQ Sauce (£12.95). The ingredients are really high quality and this is a hearty brunch.
We also ordered the Bacon and Maple french toast (£10). It’s nice to see french toast making an appearance and the streaky bacon was nice a crispy and the maple syrup perfectly sweet.
We couldn’t resist a side of Hash Browns and decided to opt for the Chorizo and BBQ sauce stack (£4.50) which comes nicely presented in a hot griddle pan, this dish had a lovely Mexican flavour to it and I loved the charred crispy bits of small Chorizo and melted cheese.
Completing the experience is the impeccably crafted Routes Coffee, boasting a deep, rich flavor profile and adorned with expertly executed latte art.
The Edge is a real local gem and is definitely one of the best brunches around, attracting customers from far and wide (so pre-book to avoid disappointment!). We feel very lucky to have them on our doorstep and for them to be dog-friendly too (Ralphie enjoyed some treats and strokes!).
They deserve every success and we look forward to seeing where they’ll be in another four years… watch this space!
