Permit Room specials!

29th May 2025 by Chiara Nunzet Leave a Comment AD - Invite, Blog, NewsCENTRAL OXFORD/ INDIAN/ LUNCH/ Oxford/ restaurant/ REVIEW

Permit Room Oxford has been popping since it opened last year, and I’m here to give you the low down on a few special menu items and offers they’ve recently launched.

Firstly – the Mirror Margarita

The clearest and purest cocktail I think I’ve ever had? It looked like just a glass of ice and water, but was actually a jackfruit and toasted basmati mirror margarita. It was fresh, crisp and super refreshing – perfect for the warm spring weather we’ve been having. Only around until 5 June so move quick!

Next up – Mango season

Permit Room always has mango lassi and the incredible mango lassi softserve on the menu, but for a limited time the Alphonso Mango Kheer is gracing the ‘Sweet Things’ menu to celebrate mango season. Golden basmati rice pudding topped with cubes of Alphonso mango. This mango was legit the freshest and juiciest mango I’ve had, FULL of flavour and the perfect fresh way to end a meal, especially if you’ve been hitting the spice with your mains.

Last but not least – the £15 Jaldi bite lunch menu

The all-day menu at Permit Room is undeniably delicious, but if you’re looking for something a little lighter – the Jaldi menu might be just the thing for you. For £15 you get some Chakli (crunchy fried snack) to start, and then you pick something from the chaat and salad section, and one thing from the savoury section. Think spinach chaat, broccoli salad, masala eggs, samosas – and more!

I recently tried this menu out for Friday lunch with a friend, and we were surprised at how full we were! The portions are generous, and the flavours pack a punch. You won’t be as food comatose as you might be if you went full on curry feast, but you’re getting your money’s worth for sure. The spinach chaat lives in my head rent free, crunchy, crispy, with freshness added from the yoghurt and pomegranate seeds – perfection in a dish.

If this hasn’t got you reaching to book a table for one of, if not all of, the above – I don’t know what will. My only request is you let me know what you had and what you thought, and enjoy!
