Nicola’s Top Three: Halima the Baker

17th February 2024 by Nicola Barretto Leave a Comment Blog, NewsBAKERY/ INDEPENDENTS/ Oxford/ OXFORDSHIRE/ REVIEW/ STALLS/ TAKEAWAYS & DELIVERIES

“The best things in life are sweet”- Halima

This one is for all the sweet tooths out there (you’re welcome, as always). I met Halima at the Headington market a few years ago and became a fan of her baked goods almost instantly. To manage the January blues, I decided to pop over and see Halima at the same market recently (you can also find her at the Summertown Market on most Sundays).

Let’s get straight into the good stuff!

1.  Terry’s Chocolate Orange Brownies

Gooey and decadent. These are the most suitable words to describe this brownie. Orange and chocolate are a match made in heaven and I won’t be told otherwise. This brownie was so smooth and flavoursome that as soon as I took my first bite, I knew it was going to be at the top of my list!

2. Cadbury’s Caramel Cookie

Caramel has my heart, especially salted caramel. It oozed out of this cookie on my first bite- do I need to say much else? Not only is the size of this cookie very generous but it’s well stuffed with not only the cameral but some chocolate bits too. It doesn’t get much better than this.

3.   Kinder Chocolate Muffin

This is Halima’s personal favourite and after trying it, I completely understand why. The cake mixture itself was not too dense, but was a tad dry. The centre filling was my absolute favourite part – it elevated the muffin and added a surprise burst of sweetness.

Now that I have you drooling, I can wrap this up. I’d love to know if you’ve visited Halima’s stall before and what you got if you did?! Let us know in the comments.

See you back here soon for the next edition of Nicola’s Top 3!
