Whether it’s a good rice and curry dish or noodles, it was about time that I did a ‘Nicola’s Top 3’ feature on my favourite East Asian restaurants in Oxford. There are some great options in Oxford (many that I am still yet to try) but the ones included below are venues that have been consistently good at delivering high-quality food that makes me want to keep coming back.
Having discovered New Dancing Dragon over Covid, it is now one of my favourites. The food is so flavoursome and although the spice can burn the mouth, their fried beef in spicy Sichuan red oil is incredible. My recent visit consisted of the mini veg spring rolls, the deep-fried crispy chili shredded beef, and roast duck with plum sauce. Could not fault a single dish.
Big portions + wholesome food + good service = Happy Nicola.
Pan Pan was on my list for a long time and it did not disappoint. The Thai green curry was my favourite from the array of dishes I tried, alongside the curry laksa with beef. Unfortunately, the beef was rather tough. Next time, I would opt to have it on its own- the broth was delicious.
Definitely somewhere I would go back to. Great value for money and generous portions.
I have loved Pho for many years now. Especially when it’s cold and grey (which it is on most days in the UK, much to my demise), what could be better than a large bowl of Pho to warm my soul?
My go-to is the spicy chicken pho or if I am in the mood for a curry, the spicy chicken curry with rice. Oh, and I love their chocolate truffle dessert, perfect for any chocoholics!
Please share any of your own recommendations. Always happy to give new places a try!
That’s it for now on Nicola’s Top 3! Keep an eye out for the next one 😉
