Nicola’s Top Three: desserts at Brasserie Blanc

Introducing Bitten’s newest mini-series: ‘Nicola’s Top 3!’

‘Nicola’s Top Three’ is as straightforward as it sounds- you will get a little insight into some of my favourite things within the Oxford world of food and drink.

To kick off this series, I will be sharing my top three fave desserts from Brasserie Blanc, Oxford.

Brasserie Blanc is possibly my favourite restaurant in Oxford. I have never left there disappointed, and the cherry on top is that their desserts never fail to satisfy my sweet tooth.

Coming in at first place we have… the Chocolate Delice.

This decadent and beautiful dessert is any chocoholic’s dream. The smooth chocolate ganache, and cacao tuille, topped with glazed hazelnuts and pistachios, and accompanied by a classic scoop of vanilla ice cream – just amazing. I still dream about it regularly. The various textures were well balanced, from the smooth ganache to the crunchy and delicate tuille. I had this on my first-ever visit to Brasserie Blanc- I hope it comes back on their menu soon!

Second place goes to… the Tarte au Citron with crème fraiche.

Fresh and zesty, perfectly balanced and served with a quenelle of crème fraiche. Often with lemon tarts, the citrus flavour can be overwhelming but thankfully, this was not the case here! I must add that it was a very generous portion – I admit I was defeated.

Finally, third place goes to… the Pistachio Soufflé with chocolate ice cream.

Honestly, the smell of the dish won me over before I even had a chance to get a spoonful into my mouth. The soufflé was light and fluffy, and the ramekin was coated in a thin layer of dark chocolate which only elevated the dessert more. An ideal dish for someone with less of a sweet tooth.

Yes, I am drooling whilst writing this. So, those are my current fave desserts from Brasserie Blanc, do let us know if you go and try and of them, or if you have differing favourites – let us know in the comments!

Stay tuned for the next ‘Nicola’s Top 3’!
