Review: The Edge Eatery, Eynsham

3rd August 2020 by Holly and Rachel Leave a Comment BlogOUT OF OXFORD/ OXFORDSHIRE/ REVIEW/ STREET FOOD/ WEST OXFORDSHIRE

An Australian inspired food-truck in Eynsham, Oxfordshire

The Edge Eatery Eynsham
A small but perfectly formed menu served straight out of a food van in the heart of Eynsham.

The Edge Eatery is run by a passionate team of foodies, serving up authentic Thai cuisine every Thursday, which is truly hard to beat. We ordered one of everything on the menu (don’t judge us), and it turned out to be the perfect amount for a romantic evening for two.

The chicken massaman curry (£7.50 with rice) is a good option for the less spicy of fans – a flavoursome but mild curry, not at all greasy and with lovely big bits of tender chicken. The Asian greens (£3.50) complimented this dish well; the broccoli, in particular, was cooked perfectly – no soggy overcooked vegetables here!

We have a favourite Thai restaurant in the Lakes, where we always order chicken Phad Thai. It’s hard to find one that competes, but The Edge’s version (£6.50) is a flavour explosion of freshness and crunch; served with a chunk of lime. It’s well rounded in terms of flavour, providing a nice kick without being overly spicy.

ALL THE FOOD!

The spicy Asian slaw (£3.00) was fresh, but the only cold dish; great if you like mixing hot and cold and with a dressing that’s very light. However, this dish didn’t sing for us and is probably the only dish we wouldn’t order again.

The prawn crackers (£1.50) were crispy, no grease insight and saltier than usual prawn crackers, which made them reaaalllllyyy morish. We fought over the last one!

The pièce de résistance was the sticky chicken wings (£5), GIVE ME A BUCKET of those any day of the week and I’d be a happy woman.

Sticky by name, sticking by nature; still crispy even after being delivered to our home in Witney, and jam-packed full of flavour, both sweet and spicy.

In a nutshell: fresh, flavoursome, great value for money. You’d be mad to miss it.
Price tag: all this for just over £30.
The Edge Eatery serves Thai every Thursday between 4-8pm, from the car park of The Red Lion in Eynsham, as well as burger nights and weekend brunches. They’re in the process of changing their opening hours, so follow them on Instagram for latest updates and menus.
