Review: Shake Shack’s New Menu!

16th March 2025 by Nicola Barretto Leave a Comment AD - Invite, BlogCENTRAL OXFORD/ family friendly/ Fast Food/ Oxford/ Oxford Centre/ OXFORDSHIRE/ REVIEW

As soon as I heard about the new ‘Pesto Parm’ menu from Shake Shack, I just had to give it a try.

Shake Shack’s new menu also includes a pistachio milkshake and an apricot & mint lemonade. Of course, the pistachio milkshake immediately caught my attention because pistachio is just so good.

Below is a list of everything we had, so you to see the full list before I start chit-chatting about it all:

  • Chicken pesto parm burger
  • Pesto parm fries
  • SmokeShack burger
  • Chicken bites with a BBQ and honey mustard dip
  • Pistachio shake
  • Apricot and mint lemonade
  • Black and white milkshake
  • Iced tea

Let’s get to the pesto parm burger and fries

Fresh and tasty – both the burger and fries were mega tasty. The pesto parm flavour was herby and fresh, it was well balanced and just look at all that parmesan on the fries! Can’t go wrong.

You had me at pistachio milkshake.

As this milkshake is made from frozen pistachio custard, it was a very solid milkshake. The pistachio flavour was strong and the addition of crushed pistachios on top helped boost the flavour. It was very sweet, so anyone who doesn’t have a massive sweet tooth might find it a bit sickly. However, I genuinely enjoyed it! It is practically a dessert on its own so you don’t need to order a sweet as well in my opinion.

Apricot mint lemonade?

Alongside all the strong flavours, the apricot and mint lemonade almost tasted sour initially, but it was very refreshing and washed the food down nicely. Personally, the flavour didn’t really stand out for me and is not something I would order again.

On to all the other bits…

I absolutely loved the SmokeShack burger, the sauce was full of flavour, and the applewood smoked bacon hit the spot – a yes from me. The beef was juicy and tender.

The chicken bites were the perfect sharer and were well seasoned, which I appreciated as I feel sometimes chicken bits end up being served very plain!

The honey mustard dip was the perfect blend of sweet with a punch of heat. I am not much of a BBQ girl so I didn’t try that dip but the others said it was nice and smoky.

I have always really enjoyed a Shake Shack milkshake.

They hit the spot every time and I usually go for a chocolate milkshake. However this time I tried the black and white milkshake, which is a mix of chocolate and vanilla. As always, it was a good milkshake, creamy and fresh, you simply can’t go wrong with a milkshake from Shake Shack and I’m keen to go and try some of the other flavours.

Overall thoughts…

The ‘Pesto Parm’ burger and fries, along with the pistachio milkshake get my approval.

The balance of flavours was spot on, and the burger was super juicy. Everything was well seasoned which is not always the case at ‘fast food’ spots. Oh and before I forget, the staff were so so friendly! Shout out to Riyo for looking after us so well.

7.5/10 rating from me!
