Fat Lils is situated on Corn Street, in the heart of Witney, and is renowned for its live music and buzzing atmosphere. But, as we discovered, this family-run business is also home to some of the best street food in town.
Our eye was caught on Instagram by their black cod taco, and one weekend we found the perfect opportunity to try it out. Their taco menu compromises four different fillings – we ordered the pollo, blackened cod, and veggie.
You can order three tacos for £10, or £3.50 per taco; with three recommended for a meal, one for a snack.
First up was the black cod with mango and sweetcorn salsa, this taco packed a real punch. The sweetness of the salsa and the pomegranate seeds really complimented the heat from the black cod. The tacos come with two wraps to help you navigate the generous filling. We joked that this isn’t the place to come on a first date!
After the kick of the black cod, the chicken was a cooling contrast…
Fresh salad topped with shredded chicken, smothered in creamy avocado, tomato salsa and sour cream. A real delight!
The veggie option, last up, overflowed with perfectly cooked bell peppers, still crunchy to the bite but oozing with flavour.
We enjoyed our taco’s alfresco, with the tables nicely spaced out it was a pleasant place to people watch. Service was very efficient and we were impressed with how regularly they were cleaning tables.
If you’re looking for an afternoon snack and cold drink, you can’t go far wrong here!

Fat Lil’s serves wood-fired pizzas and burgers, with collection and eat in from 3pm until late on Thursday’s, Friday’s and Saturday’s. Plus, they have some great gluten-free options.
