We were recently invited to try the all-day brunch menu at Opera Cafe on Walton Street in Oxford, and it’s safe to say it did not disappoint. With sunny outdoor seating and a relaxed, welcoming vibe, Opera is a local gem that draws in a lovely mix of people – from students and young professionals to local families enjoying a midweek or weekend treat. It’s the kind of place that makes you want to take your time and savour the atmosphere (and perfect if you’re nosy and like people-watching, like me!)

I went for the eggs and smoked salmon on toast – a classic that was anything but basic. The eggs were softly scrambled, perfectly seasoned, and paired beautifully with the rich, fresh salmon, all served on rustic toast that brought it all together. My friend Emilie chose the Moroccan egg wrap with salad, which was a standout dish – warmly spiced, hearty, and beautifully balanced with the freshness of the side salad.
To drink, I had the celery, apple, and carrot juice, which was crisp, refreshing, and clearly made to order. Emilie had a coffee.

We couldn’t resist finishing with something sweet, so we both went for the pistachio cookie.
It was the perfect blend of flavours and not too sweet – a refreshing change given how many pistachio-based treats on the market right now can taste overly artificial or be too heavily filled. This one got it just right: nutty, balanced, and totally moreish.

The staff were all smiles, helpful, and happy to offer recommendations. Our dishes arrived promptly, well-portioned, and beautifully presented.

Opera Café delivers a fresh, flavourful experience without fuss.
The crispy lunch wraps are a very good work lunch option, and their sweet treat counter always has me drooling. We’ll definitely be back to try more!
