Preview: Part and Parcel by Dodo Pub Co opens in Witney

13th September 2021 by Holly and Rachel Leave a Comment AD - Invite, Blog, PreviewsCOWORKING/ INDEPENDENTS/ OXFORDSHIRE/ WEST OXFORDSHIRE/ WITNEY

We recently attended the press launch of Dodo Pub Co’s latest venture, The Part and Parcel in Witney. When heading into a Dodo pub there are certain things you expect to experience which are synonymous with the brand; friendly service, delicious food and a buzzing atmosphere. We’re pleased to report all of these and more.

Let’s take a look inside…

Walking through the doors of the Part and Parcel, you get the familiar Dodo interior, industrial but warm and inviting. The bar makes a great centrepiece, drawing you in with a wealth of beers and spirits to quench anyone’s thirst.

We were seated in a booth towards the back of the pub, the perfect spot to converse as we chomped our way through delicious grub! The front of the pub around the bar is much buzzier, with standing space and ample table choice. There is further space behind the bar with a foosball table, surrounded by traditional bar stools.

On to the menu…

We ordered two drinks, a gin fix and a non-menu item, a virgin mojito. The non-menu item could have caused an issue, but the friendly bar staff whipped up their own version without any problem – not a virgin mojito but something equally refreshing and tasty.

We picked a selection from the food menu, which encompasses everything the staff at Dodo believe they do the best. First up from the burger menu, was the ‘Dirty Bird’ (£10 – available GF for an extra £1.50). The tower of crunchy goodness contained buttermilk fried chicken, dill pickles, tomato, shredded lettuce, and chipotle mayo; all sandwiched between a soft sesame bun. There were satisfied groans all round as we tucked into this one. There was the crunch of the chicken and lettuce, paired with the sharpness of pickles; then a background heat from the chipotle mayo, followed by cooling freshness from the tomato. As with burgers these days, don’t expect this to be clean eating, we had all sorts dribbling down our chins. It was beautiful!

Continuing with our love of chicken, we ordered barbeque wings (£6.50). This dish is a classic and one of our favourite things in the world! Is there anything better than getting covered in sticky thick sauce after biting into a crunchy fried chicken wing? These were fantastic. A classic done well, no flabby chicken here, it was beautifully crisp despite lashings of BBQ sauce!

Next up, pizza!

Along with the classic Margherita, the Part and Parcel have more unusual flavour combinations to tempt you with. We ordered the ‘Bee Sting’ pizza (£11.50 – available on a white rabbit low-gluten base for £2 extra). This pizza has a crushed tomato and basil base topped with fior di latte, pepperoni and the twist, habanero honey. This pizza was aptly named as one bite in and we were feeling the burn of the habanero. Interestingly, the flavour of the sweet honey became more apparent with every slice consumed; the ‘sting’ however remained potent throughout, our lips still tingling as we walked out the door. Not for the faint of heart!

Finally, we rounded off our selection with rosemary fries (£3.50). I’d love to tell you all about the crunch and flavour, but my mum enjoyed them so much she polished them off! However, she did say – as she pushed the remnants of the bowl towards me – that they were ‘very good’! High praise indeed, as my mum is an absolute star in the kitchen, and very rarely goes above a ‘nice’ when eating out.

THERE’S ALSO A CO-WORKING SPACE

Upstairs in the pub is a co-working space, beautifully decked out in calming colours and motivational quotes. There’s a meeting room and kitchenette on the first floor, and a zoom room on the second floor, allowing you to take calls in private. Full-time membership gives you access 7 days a week, plus 40% off in ‘caffeine and cake’, and 10% off in the pub. There are also a couple of packages that allow either 15 or 30 days of use over three months. Click here to find out more.

The Part and Parcel, in summary…

A mention must go to the fact that the Part and Parcel is extremely dog friendly. Not only do they allow your furry friends in, they give them a water bowl. Plus there’s ample space under each table for them to curl up, out of the thoroughfare.

Dodo has come to Witney and they’ve brought all the best bits of the brand with them. The evening was buzzing, full of warmth and the food was absolutely delicious, we left very happy people!
