I was kindly invited down to Jojo’s on Cowley Road to check out their Friday night setup – a mix of pizza, cocktails, and live music, and it turned out to be a really enjoyable way to ease into the weekend. The vibe is relaxed and welcoming, with a rustic, cosy interior and a nice buzz.
The setting is spot-on for a casual evening out. There’s a good number of tables, you’re not crammed in, and the bar is a standout feature as you can watch the bartenders making drinks right in front of you, which adds a nice bit of theatre to the experience. The staff were friendly and helpful too, chatting through the menu and suggesting cocktails and pizzas based on what we were in the mood for.

We started with a JoJo Margarita and a Daiquiri – both were well-made and refreshing. When it came to food, I took a bit of a detour from my usual picks and went for the pepperoni pizza with hot honey – not something I’d normally go for as I don’t usually get meat on my pizza, but I knew the hot honey would go well with it, the combo just works. The sweet heat from the honey against the salty meat is hard to beat. Charlie had the goat cheese pizza, which was also a solid choice – both came out crisp and packed with flavour.

We tried a few more of their cocktails after that which all had a good range of flavours, well-balanced, and not overly sweet. The live music started around 9pm and gave the place a really nice lift. The doors were open to the warm spring air, and with the live music playing, it created a really easygoing, almost holiday-like feel.

JoJo’s is a great shout for a relaxed date night or a casual evening out with friends.
Despite being right on busy Cowley Road, it felt really relaxed, and the combination of food, drinks and live music makes it a spot worth checking out.
