Festive Afternoon Tea at Coworth Park

4th December 2019 by Katy Kelly Leave a Comment AD - Invite, Blog, SponsoredACCOMMODATION/ CHRISTMAS/ OUT OF OXFORD

Get into the Christmas spirit with carols and cake at this luxe Berkshire hotel. Image: Facebook

Coworth Park is a member of The Dorchester Collection – a luxury hotel group which includes the Beverly Hills Hotel, LA. Although Coworth isn’t frequented by the Kardashians, it does have its own share of glamorous guests including premier league footballers (or so my boyfriend informed me), Hollywood stars, royals and now, Bitten Oxford.

Well if it’s good enough for Prince Harry and Natalie Portman – it’s good enough for me.

We were escorted by golf cart through the estate’s parkland, whizzing past woodland, ponds and tennis courts to get a preview of the festive afternoon tea and of the Dower House, a private listed cottage available to rent (it’s booked out for this Xmas and New Year already). With three en-suite bedrooms (and Coworth’s famous gold tubs), two fireplaces, a living room, dining room, Chef, Butler, and when I visited, carol singers, it’s the dream Christmas location.

Whilst the Dower House already has its lucky guests lined up for the season, the carol singers are available to those booking Coworth’s Festive Afternoon Tea experience on a weekend, between November 23 and December 22.

Check out the beautiful interior

The afternoon tea is exactly what you’d expect from a 5* hotel. The Veuve Clicquot champagne, finger sandwiches, and freshly baked scones were all excellent. The festive update included roast turkey with sage mayonnaise on onion bread, English Brie and cranberry on white bread, spiced plum jam with the scones, warm mince pies, and my ultimate favourite – Coworth Park cherry and chocolate Yule log.

Served in the main Manor House’s glam and modern drawing room with pastel walls, jewel-toned velvet sofas, Art Deco side tables and lit fires at either end, this is the luxury way to get into the Christmas spirit. Complete with 15ft Christmas trees, traditional Christmas decorations and sparkle, the atmosphere is pretty special.

There’s even a spa if you wanted to relax after the stress of deciding whether to have Earl Grey or the Coworth house blend by the fire.

The service is excellent and feels like a real treat, and friendly staff keep the vibe laid back. Although you might not be able to experience a Coworth Christmas Day at Dower House (this year anyway!), you can get a slice of a luxury countryside Christmas with this afternoon tea.
