What we’ve BITTEN into lately…

11th October 2023 by Holly and Rachel Leave a Comment Blog, NewsBITTENTOPEATS/ INDEPENDENTS/ Oxford/ restaurant

Our new favourite monthly feature is back, September was another great month for eating out in Oxfordshire. From new pub openings in Charlbury, the discovery of new sweet treats to places we fondly return back to time and time again. This month’s run down of our favourites has it all!

Chiara

George Street Social

‘All I need to say is that this was the ‘small portion.’ I’ve had this twice now and both times have been like ‘omg this is way too much’ and then hoovered up the entire portion. Tasty, easy, good food.’

Jacqui

The Chester Arms

Easy one for me – The Chester Arms steak platter continues to satisfy, with meat that’s so well cooked it could have been made by mythological creatures. Still one of the best plates of food in Oxford.

Rob

The Bell, Charlbury

The most divine dessert of roasted local plums, Mascarpone and crushed Amaretti biscuits. The sweetness and sharpness of the plums perfectly contrasted with the creamy mascarpone and the nutty boozy dry biscuit-like scattered crumble. La Dolce Vita in a mouthful!

Liz

2 North Parade

Dom’s Amaretti cookies from 2 North Parade in north Oxford were my lucky September find. The sweet treat I didn’t know I needed. Only available Friday and Saturday, be warned, they disappear fast!

James

Byron Burger

This month I am going to go with Byron Burger! This is my go-to burger joint in Oxford for lunch if I need my burger fix. The patties have good flavour with a good choice of toppings, sides and importantly some decent craft beers!

Nicola

Pho

I can never go wrong with Pho for some comfort food! For the first time I tried the Curry Noodle Pho with chicken which was really tasty. We also got the spring rolls and my friend got the Steak and Garlic Pho! I’ve honestly never been disappointed dining here!

Holly

The Lamb Inn in Crawley

The Lamb is our favourite go-to. The service and the quality of the food is unbeatable. We often don’t deviate from their Cajun Rotisserie chicken, the chicken melts in your mouth and the skin is crispy and flavoursome paired with a lovely fresh salad with avocado and pomegranate seeds, aioli and crispy salty fries. Perfection in a dish!

What new places or plates have you discovered lately? We’d love to hear your recommendations, drop them in the comments.
