Review: Tikka and Tadka Curry boxes

13th June 2025 by Chiara Nunzet Leave a Comment AD - Gifted, Best For, Blog, NewsCURRY/ INDEPENDENTS/ INDIAN/ Oxford/ OXFORDSHIRE/ PRE ORDER/ REVIEW/ takeaway

Recently I had the pleasure of trying a curry box from Tikka and Tadka, an Oxfordshire-based curry catering company run by the loveliest couple, Roshni and Sam. They kindly offered to deliver one of their curry boxes to me, and it arrived on a Thursday evening – perfect timing, as I had no plans and could dive straight in.

The first thing to know is that their menu changes weekly.

You can check the latest offerings on the Tikka and Tadka website or opt to join a WhatsApp group where you’ll get updates as new menus come out each week. Roshni will bring a new regional menu each week, giving you a chance to try curries from all over India. The variety offered is great, with a balance of meat, fish, and veggie options to suit every palate or dietary need.

I was given a lovely selection of their dishes to try, and what really stood out to me was how much it felt like a treat – just as a takeaway should – but without that heavy, greasy feeling that some takeaways leave you with.

My favourites were the Macher kofta (fish kofta and garam masala curry) and the chicken curries. They were all packed with flavour, while maintaining a nice freshness that meant you could go back for more without feeling too bloated. I also really loved the Aloo Kabli, a nice and crunchy starter / side that added freshness.

The rice was fluffly and really well cooked, and the naan bread was perfectly crispy and fluffy (dream combo). There’s such a variety here that there’s bound to be something for everyone if you were ordering for a group.

How to order?

You need to place your order by Monday, and the food will be delivered or ready for collection by Thursday – just in time for the weekend! The meals can be kept in the fridge for up to 5 days or frozen for 2 months, making them ideal for leftovers or planning ahead. This is definitely a great option if you’re hosting without time to cook, or having people stay for the weekend and want some easy and delicious food to keep everyone going. One thing to note – make space in your fridge/freezer!

Tikka and Tadka deliver across Oxford and South Oxfordshire, and they also offer catering for events, parties, and gatherings. If you’re after something that’s both indulgent and nourishing, give it a go! Roshni and Sam are two of the friendliest, smiliest people around – clearly passionate about good food and sharing it with others and I’m sure would be more than happy to chat you through the options and make recommendations should you need it.

Let us know if you order- would love to hear what you think.
