The food scene in Headington has been in need of a ramen spot for quite some time, so this is a very welcome addition. Located just off Headington High Street on Windmill Road, Ramen Koncept is a Japanese restaurant where traditional Japanese design meets modern bold colours and rich textures.

Set with a beautiful open kitchen, the venue has such a cosy feeling.
Let’s get into it
For drinks, I went for the Lychee Martini, and my friend had the Asahi. The cocktail was gorgeous, and we were kindly given a very aesthetic sake tower – the ice is added separately to avoid watering down the sake. I’m not a sake fan but this one was very palatable.

Time for the starters
We tried the tori gyoza, ebi katsu, and the chashu pork bites. All of these were beautifully presented and very tasty. Without a doubt, the pork bites stole the show; it literally melted in your mouth. Literally drooling at the thought of them.
Swiftly on to the mains
I decided to go for the spicy tonkotsu and the beef gyudon. The tonkotsu broth itself was rich, creamy, and literally incredible. It had that comforting, salty (but not overwhelming) flavour that was moreish. Once I find a dish I like, it’s very hard to get me to order something else cause I don’t like being disappointed so I have a feeling this will end up being my go-to dish here.
The beef gyudon was a rice-based dish where the beef gets simmered in a savoury-sweet soy dashi. Whilst the beef was tender and it was a tasty dish, it could have done with a bit more sauce.
Both portions were generous, and our bowls were empty.

My favourite course
If you are new here, dessert is always a must for me.
We tried the tiramisu torte and Japanese slice. The slice was a matcha joconde biscuit layered with coconut & passion fruit compote, topped with airy yuzu mousse & finished with a sugar glaze. It was light and refreshing.
The tiramisu torte was the preferred one, but genuinely, no complaints here either.

Final thoughts

The staff was super friendly, and during my visit, there were quite a few repeat guests, which is always a good sign! Chances are, by the time you are reading this, I would have already gone back.
One to definitely add to your list.
