Pan Pan is officially one of my favourite restaurants in Oxford.
You are spoilt for choice with the menu here. There is a great varity of items and everything sounds delicious – deciding what to order always takes a bit of time (including looking at the menu online ahead of visiting, lol). The restaurant has a cosy and wholesome feel to it, hitting the spot during these cold, dark months.

Started strong with a few starters
We went for their Crispy Dump with Prawn and Leek and the K.F.C with the sweet and spicy sauce.
The crispy dumplings were stunning. Well packed with a light batter and perfectly crispy- could have about 10 of these!
During a previous visit, I found the K.F.C a bit overwhelming, but this time the flavours were well balanced, and the sweet spicy sauce had right but light kick.
Ordering several small plates and sharing among the table is a great option if you don’t feel like a whole main.

Now for the mains
Every single one of my visits to Pan Pan has to consist of the Curry Laksa. With that, we decided to try something new and went for the Indonesian Satay, with chicken, and this is served with rice and salad. The portions are very generous and good value for money. I always end up having something to take away, which makes for a great WFH lunch the next day.

Their Curry Laksa is my absolute favourite
This is a non-negotiable item to order. Feeling under the weather? Get the laksa. Looking for a comforting meal? Get the laksa.
The flavours are fresh and well balanced. From the coconut broth to the slight chilli kick, this is still my favourite dish. I can’t recommend it enough.
Satay time
Having been recommended this by a friend, I knew I had to give it a go. This had a sweeter flavour than I was expecting – not a complaint but something worth considering.
The curry itself was delicious – rich and tasty and it’s served with a generous portion of rice. Very fragrant and simply put, a good curry.

Final verdict: still hits the spot

Pan Pan is somewhere I highly recommend visiting, if you haven’t already. The consistency in the flavour and quality of the food is my favourite thing. I’m all for consistency, especially since I feel that this can be lacking nowadays. The staff are friendly, the restaurant is very cosy and it’s amazing value for money. Portions are so generous that you can eat very well without breaking the bank. A restaurant which, after 4 visits, I can say is one of the most rich in flavour and reliably consistent in Oxford’s food scene.
This is your sign to get yourself to Pan Pan.

Loved reading about Pan Pan’s take on Pan‑Asian street food — your description makes me want to book a table right now! Also came across an interesting read on meal options for GLP‑1 users here: https://rolandmedicalweightloss.com/co-op-introduces-good-fuel-meal-range-for-glp-1-users/
— definitely worth a look if you’re into balanced eating. Thanks for the great post!
