Bitten Roast Guide 2026

Our guide to a proper good Sunday roast in Oxfordshire

Sunday roasts are serious business. Crispy potatoes, rich gravy, good meat, and the kind of plates you want to linger over. We are often asked where to go for a really good roast in Oxfordshire, so here is our current round-up of places we love, places worth a special mention, and a few firmly on our hit list for 2026.

The Chester Oxford Sunday Roast 11.13.18

  • Port Mahon, St Clements
  • The Perch, Binsey

Treadwell, Oxford

Perfect for a special occasion

  • Treadwell at The Store, central Oxford. Recommended by Nicola, “If you are looking for a Sunday roast sharer, The Store is the place to go.”
  • The Chester Arms, East Ox (big big queues so clearly something is going well)
  • Magdalen Arms, East Ox (good for big sharers, legs of lamb, and don’t say no to the freshly baked focaccia!)

Special mention for the best Vegan roast

  • Oxford Blue. Recommended by Sofia. The Oxford Blue is her go-to place for a vegan roast!

West Oxfordshire

  • Part and Parcel, Witney. “A 10/10 roast and a perfect Sunday spot.”
