Turl Street Kitchen on… Turl Street… has a new Head Chef as of today!
Ben Gibbons, whose food I’ve had the genuine pleasure of enjoying at Taco Bandits and Hertford College, confirmed plans to close the restaurant for a week or two at some point to give both the front and back of house of the restaurant a bit of a lift.
The menu will be modern European with food sourced locally where possible, and he’s planning to create an Ottolenghi vibe salad display in the entrance.
Ben is keen to open up the menu, with inspiration from travels to Andalusia, so people can share small plates together or take the three-course route. They’re going to define the restaurant and bar areas a bit better as part of the refurbishment, with small plates on the bar menu, then a sit down full menu in the restaurant. The incoming Head Chef also wants to lift the presentation of the food.
Judging by my previous experiences of Ben’s food, I can’t wait to try it out!
