Review: Jolly’s Ginger Beer (and friends)

19th June 2025 by Chiara Nunzet 1 Comment AD - Gifted, BlogCANS/ DRINKS/ FIZZY DRINKS/ INDEPENDENTS/ REVIEW

Jolly’s recently sent me a selection of their soft drinks to try – and after taste-testing my way through them, I’m a fan.

Jolly’s have been bottling drinks in Cornwall since 1896, making them one of the UK’s oldest independent soft drink producers. They use natural spring water and quality ingredients, giving their drinks a refreshingly clean taste while maintaining good flavour.

Top of the list for me? The Ginger Beer. It’s got a lovely warming kick to it – just spicy enough without being overpowering – and it’s seriously refreshing over ice. If you’re a ginger beer fan, this one’s a must-try.

Second place? The Sparkling Apple. Crisp, clean and nicely balanced between sweet and tart, it’s really drinkable and perf for cooling down in the current heatwave we’re having.

The Orange was another favourite: vibrant, juicy, and not overly sweet. Think nostalgic orangeade but grown-up.

I also really enjoyed the Sparkling Elderflower – light, floral and delicate, it’s the perfect picnic or garden party drink, especially when served cold. A little fancy without trying too hard.

I tried the Lemonade and both versions of the Cornish Cola – classic and no sugar. The cola wasn’t quite my thing, but if you’re looking to switch from big-brand fizzy drinks and support a smaller, independent producer, they’re a great alternative. The no sugar version is ideal if you’re cutting back without wanting to lose all the flavour.

You can find Jolly’s drinks online at places like The Cornish Store and Cornish Canning Co, or pick up their Ginger Beer in selected Morrisons stores. They’re also stocked in independent cafés, delis, and farm shops around the UK – so keep an eye out next time you’re browsing the drinks fridge and want to try something different.
