Oxford Christmas RestaurantsLet’s face it, Christmas is busy. Gift shopping, card writing, decoration hanging, pine needle sweeping! And if you’re anything like us, you’re not entirely prepared. Maybe you still have that Christmas party venue to book, and really want to impress your colleagues. Maybe you’re sick to the back teeth of spending New Year’s Eve at home watching X-Factor specials and fancy doing something more exciting. Or maybe, you just want somewhere nice to recover from all that turkey!

Well, as per usual, we’ve got your back. We’re going to make your life a whole lot easier by pointing you in the right direction with some select ideas to get you through Christmas and New Year in Oxford.

Christmas Parties

Killingworth Castle

The Killingworth Castle’s delicious sounding Christmas menu runs from 1st-24th December, with a Sunday lunch menu still available. They are also open all day every day apart from Sunday evenings throughout the Winter, with lunches available 12-2pm Mon-Thurs, or 12-3.30pm Saturday and Sunday. Dinner hours are 6-9pm Mon-Thurs and 6-9.30p Friday and Saturday. They still have some space, including rooms, for New Year’s Eve too, check out the £39 per person four-course NYE menu here.

The pub won’t be serving food on Christmas Day, but will be open for drinks between 12-2pm so you can have a quick timeout before your own Christmas dinner begins!

Pizza Pilgrims

Pizza Pilgrims It's a Wonderful Slice

Our favourite pizza slingers and a new addition to the Bitten Top Ten, Pizza Pilgrims are serving up a special pizza throughout the festive period, called It’s a Wonderful Slice.

The buzzing atmosphere, arcade games, photo booth and foosball table make it a perfect Christmas party venue. They’ll be closed on Christmas Eve, Christmas Day and New Year’s Day, but open again on Boxing Day (till 10) and 2nd Jan. They’re also open until 6 on New Year’s Eve if you fancy lining your stomach with goodness pre-partying!

New Year’s Eve

Pint Shop

New Year’s Eve at Pint Shop is perfect for the food and drink lover (and secret raver). Steak Night is on the menu in the dining room, 3 courses of sumptuous food to make your mouth water. Up in bar, the party will be in full swing with DJ’s all night long. Staying open until 3am means there’s plenty of time to dance the night away. To book your table in the restaurant: 01865 251195

Tickets for the bar £5, advance tickets are available to buy at the bar or online here (including entry to the bar and a whisky at midnight!)

Porterhouse

Porterhouse Oxford

Another Bitten Top Ten restaurant, The Porterhouse Grill & Rooms are still taking table bookings for New Year’s Eve, running their usually epic steak menu – think steak, music and cocktails – sounds like our kind of night! They will be shutting at midnight, reopening on 2nd January. Porterhouse will be closed on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day, reopening again at noon on 27th December.

Christmas & New Year Recovery!

Pho, Westgate Oxford

Pho Oxford

If you fancy something a bit more fragrant or spicy, Pho will be open over Christmas and New Year’s to offer respite to hungry (and hungover!) shoppers. Pop in to get your pho fix from 11.30am – 5pm on Christmas Eve, New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day. The restaurant will be shut on Christmas Day and Boxing Day.

Get those stretchy pants at the ready Oxford!
