Deliveroo, Oxford’s New Restaurant Delivery Service

23rd February 2015 by Jacqui Thorndyke Leave a Comment BlogNEWS/ Oxford/ TAKEAWAYS & DELIVERIES

For those of you partial to the odd takeout, and quite frankly who doesn’t, a brand new service may be set to sweep you off your feet and land you comfortably back on your sofa, with a plateful of restaurant quality food.

While Oxford has it’s fair share of takeout options, there’s no denying the quality can be somewhat lacking and inconsistent at best. Just Eat launched in Oxford some time ago and opened the door to a wider range of takeout, but it didn’t do much to improve on quality. Hold on to your smartphone though, because that may be about to change.

Deliveroo, founded in 2013 and branding itself as ‘premium restaurant takeaway’, launched in Oxford at the start of February and plans to “revolutionise the way people dine by delivering quality food from local independent and chain restaurants direct to people’s doors”. The company is growing throughout the UK and is live in London, Brighton, Manchester and now Oxford. The Oxford arm of Deliveroo opens with a restaurant roster including local favourites such as Mission Burrito, Branca, The Rusty Bicycle and La Cucina, with others listed on the Deliveroo website.

Food will be transported to homes and offices across the city via a fleet of delivery mopeds and electric bikes, with orders and payment processed online at www.deliveroo.co.uk. By entering a postcode and preferred time slot, the website will offer a list of local establishments offering food within the delivery zone. This includes the option to schedule orders up to one day in advance or receive food ASAP – with an average delivery time of allegedly just 32 minutes.

With a delivery zone that currently covers the city centre, Summertown, Jericho, Oxford Brookes campus, John Radcliffe hospital area, Cowley Road and Iffley Road, Deliveroo are promising a rapidly expanding restaurant roster as the service rolls out across Oxford and surrounding areas.

The restaurant roster at the time of Deliveroo’s launch into Oxford is as follows, with more being added as the service expands:

  • Mission Burrito
  • Gourmet Burger Kitchen
  • Branca
  • The Anchor
  • The Rusty Bicycle
  • La Cucina
  • Noodle Nation
  • Cafe Coco
  • Cibo!
  • The White Rabbit
  • Maxwell’s
  • Door 74
  • Kadai & Naan
  • Spice Lounge
  • Al Salam
  • Pomegranate
  • Beetroot

Bitten will be giving the new service a thorough road test and reporting back soon! In the meantime if you get chance to try out the new service from Deliveroo Oxford, leave a reply below to share your thoughts.
