Bitten Street Launches

1st September 2014 by Becca Chaplin Leave a Comment BlogEVENTS/ STREET FOOD

Back in March this year Jacqui, Katy and Becca launched Bitten Oxford, a new and exciting look at the Oxford restaurant scene. Not just our reviews of places we’d eaten at incognito, we also do previews of new venues, interview our local food producers and features on anything from where to find the best eggs Benedict to waiting staff etiquette.

One of the things we were really keen on doing was introducing Oxford to street food, something that’s huge in London, Birmingham, Bristol and even Cambridge but had totally bypassed us. Jacqui and Becca met with several local traders who were regularly popping up and festivals and events further afield but were keen to do something closer to home, if only someone would organise it for them…

That’s how Bitten Events started! The original plan was a street food festival bringing together all those local traders who meet our stringent taste tests. We personally try all their food, they have to be passionate and awesome in real life as well as in their cuisine and up for pretty much anything we suggest! Our first event is for a few street vendors at North Parade Farmer’s Night Market on Thursday 11th September and then a few weeks later we’ll be going large for Bitten Street Food Festival, the first ever street food festival in Oxford.

We’ll be taking over Oxford Castle with 15+ street food vendors supplying great food at great prices. There’ll be some recognisable faces as well as some you won’t have seen before, but they all have one thing in common – they’re awesome! Food will be served from 12 noon to 5pm, there’ll be music, entertainment and us keeping it all running smoothly.

After that, we have more events planned. From pop up street food markets to pop up restaurants, supplying festivals to feeding students, supper clubs to cookery classes and even kindling some university rivalries, Bitten Events has plans in place.

Come down and see us on Saturday 4th October and taste it for yourself.

All Bitten Street events can be found on our Facebook events page or on the events page here. Follow all the action on social media using #BittenStreet
