Bitten Bites: New menus at Atomic and a new name!

21st July 2017 by Becca Chaplin Leave a Comment Blog, News

Following on from the pretty epic menu tasting session at Atomic Pizza a few weeks ago, the team there deliberated, cogitated and digested the feedback comments, before finally releasing their new menus.

Before I go into foodie details though, an important announcement about Atomic Pizza. It is no longer called Atomic Pizza. Henceforth it will be known as Atomic Diner – which makes more sense as burgers are just as readily available there as pizzas. Atomic Burger is still Burger!

So, what’s new? First up is the revamped nachos which went down very well as an appetiser on our tasting table. Also in the starters section is a change to the much loved chicken wings which are now available in three flavours, bbq, buffalo and new teriyaki which was trialled at the tasting. Sadly Shroomies have gone but they’ve been replaced with Scooby Snacks – potato wrapped in bacon with parmesan and sriracha. Opinion was divided on these so I’m intrigued to see how these now play out.

A few new additions to the Not Burger section, as well as hot dogs and pulled pork sandwiches there’s now a pastrami sandwich, complete with sauerkraut, pickle, Russian dressing and mustard. This was an absolute winner and we all loved it. Well, maybe not the vegetarians so much….There’s also the breakfast stack. This arrived at the very end of our tasting – the nineteenth dish so we were all a little stuffed by this point.  It comprises potato waffles (waffly versatile) with a pork fritter, fried egg, bacon, tomato and ketchup!

Onto the new burgers – old favourites such as the daisy, Jake & Elwood, dead Elvis, messy Jessie, Boris Karloff, Elizabeth Shue and Frito Bandito are still there – you might notice a few name changes but they’re essentially the same. New toppings include the Major Tom – double Swiss, mushrooms, sweet chilli sauce, peppadew peppers and bizarrely Space Raiders! Then there’s the Dixie Chicks which has buffalo chicken and blue cheese sauce. The aforementioned pastrami gets the burger treatment too as the Divine Miss M and finally there’s the Freddie… A burger topped with mango chutney, lime pickle, onion bhajis, poppadums and raita! All these are available as beef, chicken or our highly recommended veggie burger which is suitable for vegans too and an option of a bap, brioche bun or naked.

Pizzas – Trevoe has n’duja and goat’s cheese, JW is essentially a burger on a pizza and the Popeye is another goat’s cheese addition this time with olives, sundried tomatoes and spinach.

Plus there’s a new Atomic dessert but you can discover that one yourself! New menu launches Tuesday 25th July….
