It’s almost that time of year again, when local foodies flock to South Park to indulge in a bounty of food and drink treats. Foodies Festival Oxford returns from 29th – 31st August, with a lineup set to impress.
This year sees the addition of a New Tasting Theatre, hosting masterclasses in Oyster Shucking, Bee Keeping, Cheese Selecting and Vegan Recipes. Visitors can also forage for herbs to create Healthy Herb Cocktails and Booze Infused Canapés.
Fans of MasterChef can look forward to 2014 winner Ping Coombes cooking her favourite dishes, which visitors can then try for themselves at Ping’s Pop-Up on the Street Food Avenue. Or head to the Feasting Tent to tuck in to a variety of foods at a communal dining table.
Those who appreciate a good tipple have a new Wine, Champagne and Craft Beer Theatre to get excited about, along with Food and Craft Beer Matching masterclasses. Chocolate and baking addicts will be catered for with the Cake & Bake Theatre and Chocolate, Cake & Bake Village. While the BBQ Arena is perfect for fans of outdoor cooking.
If you’re feeling brave, sign up for the Chilli Eating Competition and try to break last year’s record of 14 varieties of chillies eaten without a drink, to win the Chilli Eating Crown.
An extended Producers Market will host over a vast array of producers showcasing Oxfordshire’s natural larder of quality produce and the abundance of locally produced foods. Little foodies won’t be left out either, with chances to explore their taste buds and learn basic cooking skills with masterclasses in the Children’s Cookery Theatre.
Then, after a day of feasting and fun, foodies can relax with a spot on the grass and soak in the atmosphere with live music from the entertainment stage and a refreshing cocktail, glass of bubbly or a Pimm’s from the Giant Pimm’s Teapot and Galleon Mojito bars.
