Joe Perks & Co opened at the end of last summer and quickly became known for their pretty good cocktails and their mighty fine hot dogs, often accessorised with special toppings from Bitten Street traders. They’re a regular at Bitten Street with the dogs and beer regularly being a sell out.
Now though, things are getting really exciting with the news of a new menu and even more exciting, Oxford’s first and only Smokehouse! Yes, there’s been some jiggery pokery to get this smokery but it’s now up and running and we have all the details of the new dishes right here!
Food is served from 12noon to 10pm weekdays, and 10.30am to 10pm on weekends. Plus there will be a Weekend Brunch Club too for those days when doing battle in Tesco for some flaccid bacon is just too much to cope with.
So what is on the new menu? Hot dogs are still there, joined by a home-smoked BLT, smoked pulled pork roll, a falafel wrap with home-smoked red peppers and for me, most excitingly a dunked beef brisket roll where the meat is piled into a brioche bun then dunked into that brisket liquor. I’m salivating just reading about it! There’s a whole section devoted to smoked meats with a choice of pulled pork, beef brisket or pork belly ribs served with burnt end beans and a choice of potato side.
Sides are as you’d expect, the ever popular sweet potato fries, french fries, onion strings, potato salad, buttermilk chicken wings, bbq burnt end beans and homemade pickles. So why are you still reading this? GET DOWN THERE NOW SMOKEHOUSE FANS!
