Box Bars is an independent company that, pre-Covid, was a portable bar available for events. Post-Covid, owner Heather has adapted brilliantly with cocktail delivery. Quite literally a bar in a box!
I went with the ‘Gin tasting’ box (£20) and was able to choose a flavour theme from fruity, non-fruity, or best of both. After reading the descriptions I was torn, but chose fruity in the end, sold by the Sipsmith Lemon Drizzle gin (yum!).
The sweetest little box arrived on my doorstep, free and fast delivery by hand. If I hadn’t already been impressed enough, all the packaging was environmentally friendly. I was so excited to open the box I forgot to take a photo, I had to re-pack everything as best I could just to get you a shot!
So what’s in the Box Bars box?
In the box, you get a lovely little menu detailing the cocktail you can make, which garnish goes with which, and some tasting notes, too. You get enough ingredients to make 4 cocktails, working out at £5 A COCKTAIL – yes please.
I got: Foxdenton Rhubarb; J.J Whitley Elderflower; Sipsmith Lemon Drizzle; and Whitley Neill Raspberry… Plus a little jar of raspberries, 2 refresher bars, a lemon and an orange.
This resulted in a fun and tasty afternoon in the sun. While they were all delicious, my favourite was the Sipsmith Lemon Drizzle, which paired with Mediterranean tonic water, slice of lemon and a refresher bar – divine. Not at all too sweet, which did concern me.
I highly recommend treating yourself to one of these (or one of their other products). Plus, you get to support a small business!
