One of my favourite Oxford venues, Pint Shop, is set to close this weekend. They announced the closure yesterday on social media, and have shared the following release with us.
Pint Shop, the British Beer House operator, has announced it will close its Oxford site this Saturday 16th February.
Co – founder Richard Holmes said, ‘We’ve loved being part of the Oxford scene for two and a half years, but sadly despite throwing everything at it, we just can’t make the numbers work in Oxford.’
‘On a more positive note our Birmingham site is now 4 months old, and early signs are super positive. Our plan for the immediate future is to solidify Birmingham, brush ourselves down and look for new opportunities.’
This news is hot on the heels of Marco’s New York Italian on High Street closing, which we announced in a recent update on new Oxford restaurants.
We’ve also heard mixed reports about another city centre venue closing, from within its own staff. The news has been flatly denied by one of the owners today – so I guess we’ll wait and see if it’s a hat trick of closures.

Yo sushi seems to have ceased trading in Oxford as well. Sad times. 🙁
