On Wednesday night, Bitten Oxford and Independent Oxford were joined by local independent businesses at Pint Shop on George Street, to celebrate the book launch of their joint venture, the Indie Oxford Compendium.
Put together by Becca Chaplin and Jacqui Thorndyke from Bitten Oxford, and Rosie Jacobs and Anna Munday from Independent Oxford, the Compendium is a curated selection of the best Independent restaurants, bars, retailers and more, from OX1 to OX4.
Over 80 businesses signed up for the first edition of Indie Oxford Compendium, which was printed by local print company, Bounce, and published on 1st June 2017. Both Bounce and Fisher Studios, who captured the book launch on camera, feature in the Compendium.
Speeches were led by retail specialist, Richard Hammond, who talked about the impact of a guide of this sort, and the importance of independent businesses for the local economy. The team behind the venture then explained a bit more about the what and the why behind the project, followed by thanks to all who had been involved and supported from the start.
10,000 copies of the beautifully printed and bound book are now in circulation throughout Oxford and online, and won’t look out of place on your coffee table. The Compendium sets you the challenge of ticking off as many great local indies as you can, while working your way around our wonderful city and supporting local businesses.
The Indie Oxford Compendium is available to buy for £4 at the following locations:
