One of our readers just reminded us that it’s British Pie Week this week, and it got us thinking – where in Oxford DO you get the best pie. Is it homemade or in a restaurant? Top only or full shell? Fruit or meat? Flaky, puff, shortcrust or filo? And what do you serve it with, chips or mash?!
SO MANY CHOICES.
Personally – and yes I know a lot of you will debate this, Becca has already eye-rolled me – I like my pie top only, filo or puff, with a traditional meaty filling like chicken and tarragon, or steak and red wine.
British Pie Week: How do you like yours?
So, we want to know how you like your pie… Tell us in the comments section below or on socials. We’ll be posting some Twitter & Facebook polls this week and will publish results here, maybe in a PIE chart or two! Get it? 😉
Yeah, I’ll get my coat.
Monday:Â is a pie still a pie if it only has a pastry lid?
Now this one was divisive! Our three main socials voted and they didn’t quite agree. The response with the highest percentage of votes is highlighted in our teal, and as you can see, Instagram was clearly right. I’m kidding, that’s just my personal opinion, but our Twitter and Facebook followers were adamant a pie needs a full case, with Instagram disagreeing and accepting lid-only as a fully fledged pie.
Note – Twitter allows more than two poll answers, catch up Facebook & Instagram!
Tuesday: Which Oxfordshire-based restaurants, cafes or takeaways serve the best pie?
Comment below or on our socials to cast your vote, we’ll share the results tomorrow ready for another pie related question.
If you haven’t already do check out the Crown & Tuns in Deddington, Oxfordshire. Best pie in the UK let alone Oxfordshire! We go there every time we have something even vaguely to celebrate. SO GOOD.
