Around this time of year, you can’t avoid seeing Christmas wish lists everywhere. I’m not sure who writes these lists and exactly who they’re aimed at, but they never seem to include anything I’d wish for! Which makes this a perfectly good time for Jacqui and myself to do our own foodie based Letter to Santa…
I’ve been pretty good this year, I think. It’s been a taxing year, but one that’s brought new challenges, new people and new adventures so I think I deserve a few nice things in my stocking this year. Actually, make that more than a few!
I’m going to start with the big stuff, cos, well you never know!
Dinner at one or more of the following – one of Tom Kerridge’s places in Marlow, either The Coach which has just opened and I’m desperate to visit or The Hand and Flowers, I still dream of the food I had there last February. In fact, if you do fancy sending me to The Hand and Flowers, a nights accommodation would be welcomed too!
Ooh and I’d really like the 15 course tasting menu at HKK London please.
I’d also like to actually have a selection of brownies from Barefoot Kitchen! Every time I go to an event, they sell out before I get a chance, so salted caramel, bacon and chilli brownies please.
I’d ask for the Homemade Bacon Curing Kit from Ross and Ross food, but I couldn’t wait for Christmas and already bought it for myself!
Some honeycomb and homemade chocolates from Chocsford too please.
Now something to break up all that chocolate. I was recommended these ages ago but still haven’t got round to trying them so, candied jalapenos please.
I’ve nearly finished, just a few more…
Obviously I’d love anything from Le Creuset but especially these.
It’s not very Christmassy and I’d be very unimpressed if anyone other than you brought these Santa, but I would really like these too…
That should do me this year. I look forward to opening my stocking on Christmas morning.
Enjoy your sherry and mince pie – it’s Heston’s, you know!
As I write this it’s 10.35 at night and I’m sat here, next a very brightly lit Christmas tree, wondering what on earth to ask you for. I’m sure you’re busy right now – all those presents to wrap, hundreds of elves running around your house – so take a load off for a few minutes and I’ll pour you a mulled wine. While you’re sitting comfortably, I’m sure I can think of a few little items for my list.
I’ll start at the top. Babysitters please, paired with lobster and champagne, at either The Crazy Bear or The Old Parsonage, followed by a room for the night to take full advantage of the night off (a girl can dream).
Becca’s already bagsy’d a bacon curing kit, but if you have any spare, feel free to send another my way 😉
Forget all those other chocolates, I’ll just take a great big 1kg box of Lindt Lindor please – filled to the brim with Hazlenut, Coconut, Stracciatella and Champagne Truffles. Bliss!
And finally, well, I just LOVE the Sardine Run pottery collection from Kinship of Oxford. I’d happily throw all my servingware out in exchange for a couple of chargers and serving jugs.
Cheers to a very Merry Christmas, Santa, I’ll be watching for you. I might even give you a cheeky kiss under the mistletoe if you bring everything on my list.
